In 2013, a robotics team began its journey at Olympic Community Schools (OCS) in Charlotte, NC. Thanks to a substantial donation from Bosch Rexroth Coporation, T-Rex #4935 was established. T-Rex is student-led FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) team that brings students, teachers, and business professionals together to make a competitive robotics team.
Every year our students and mentors have a 6 week period, starting in January, to build our competition robot. The game changes annually to give each team a fair chance. Robots are required to complete a variety of tasks, such as scoring balls into goals, climbing ropes or stacking recycling totes. Competitions begin in February and are free and open to the public.
Since the first year the team has grown and added many gracious sponsors. The team is now nearly 60 strong with students ranging in age from 14 to 18 with interest in STEM and other subjects. We have 6 subteams: Marketing, Safety, Logistics, Design, Build, and Coding. We are proud to be a part of FIRST North Carolina and love our friends around the state.
In our fifth year we are looking forward to adding to the list of accomplishment below:
